I am currently studying photography at the Arts University Bournemouth, looking to enhance my skills by securing an assistant photographer's position. My name is Alex and I've been shooting commercially for close to six years. Though my primary field is architectural photography, I have been trained in studio photography as well. I began my career shooting for Airbnb back in 2011, for which I still shoot - and have currently shot over 4000 listings and have been told that I've shot more listings than any other of their photographers in the world. Having graduated from NYU, I began shooting in Los Angeles (returning to my hometown) where I started to expand my work into property photography and working under one of of LA's top architectural photographers. I shadowed and assisted him on a few shoots but mostly just took over clients for him that he was too busy to cover. I also started shooting events, products and portraits occasionally but kept mostly to architectural photography. In 2014 I moved back to NYC where I continued shooting for Airbnb as well as joining a Google Trusted Photo Agency to shoot businesses and hundreds of hotels featuring still and 360 photography. From there, I started taking more freelance event and product shoot jobs, as well as shooting for a couple real estate photo agencies - under one of which I shadowed and assisted a photographer for a few days. I studied studio lighting at the International Center of Photography and began shooting more portrait and commercial work having learned better how to use strobes. My clients included some international names such as Levi's, Marriott Hotels, and Bon Appetite Magazine.

I have been interested in photography for many years and am now studying a Media Production degree. Although I do not have any paid experience I have shot at a number of events and in a number of situations. This includes taking photos in a nightclub, at charity events and second shooting/organising guests at a wedding. I have also taken photos in a corporate setting which meant taking photos of a microbrewery in East London.

With 5 years experience both in studio and on location I am comfortable and experienced on a wide range of photoshoots. I am confident, observant and on the ball, making sure you always have what you need on hand. And I also really like meeting new people, learning new skills and ways of working and make a great, strong cuppa. The majority of my experience comes from working on editorial portrait shoots with people of all ages and backgrounds, so I know how to work both quietly and discreetly when needed or be chatty and welcoming to nervous subjects. I also have a great deal of experience assisting in product studios and on food and still life shoots and with models and celebrities on fashion shoots, so my background is diverse. In terms of kit I have mostly worked with Canon and Mamiya (both digital and analog) but have experience with Nikon systems too. Where is an edge between pro and amateur? Level of education, experience or maybe way of earning money for living? If the last, I think, I may call myself a professional photographer as live from this job for many, many years. After moving to the UK, I am trying to settle down here and this is main and the only reason why I need to work as a second shooter or photographer's assistant. In the same time, I used to work as graphic designer. So I feel very confident, both, in terms of camera techniques and processing, as well as in use variety of graphic software (Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Illustrator, CorrelDraw, etc.) My adventure with photography began in the days of analogue film, medium and large format cameras. Thanks to the experience of working in an atelier, I can use a flash lighting as well as a tungsten and mixed sources of light. Temporally I am located in Bedfordshire, UK, but for an interesting project I might consider relocating to another place. I have experience with landscape, architecture (interiors), portrait and people, wedding and events photography. In a slightly lesser extent, I also deal with DSLR videography.

I started my creative career two years ago working with Amy Exton Art, an artist who focuses on set design. Most recently I worked on the Wes Anderson set for the HM holiday advert. I moved into photography just less than a year ago working with MR PORTER on the social media shoots, and some freelance photographers such as Leeor Wild, who focuses on womenswear and Jonathan Daniel Pryce, who works in menswear. I definitely make a great cup of tea, am always able to source, book and pick up props as I have a car and am good at lifting heavy things, assisting with lighting and photograph composition. Hi, I've assisted for 4,5 years now and absolutely love it. When not assisting or second shooting, I work on my own stuff (weddings, portraits and events), but have no other commitments. What I can do for you: get your camera, laptop, lights, background etc. ready; take direction very well; get along with everyone on a shoot really well from the get go; focus on the job throughout the shoot. I have been told have a very good eye for small detail, have a great attitude and lots of initiative. I learn very quickly, am hands on and don't mind getting mucky/any "small tasks". If it's fast paced it's OK: I worked as a store manager for nearly 7 years so I'm used "thinking on my feet" and staying calm under pressure. I can also do basic grooming and styling. With regards to programs, I personally use Lightroom and Photoshop CS4, but when assisting I also use Capture One, Leaf and Phocus. I do my own website so I know basic Dreamweaver. I shoot Canon, but most photographers I have assisted use Nikon and I'm comfortable with both. I am based in North London and happy to travel (I've been on shoots all around the UK -Sheffield, Glasgow, Southampton, Dorset, Cambridge, Birmingham, Brighton etc). I am eligible to work in the UK (I'm from the EU) and am fully insured with public liability insurance (covered up to 5 million), professional indemnity and cover for my kit. I'm available even on short notice; the shortest notice I've had is 1 hour so if you can give me more, that would be nice ;) As long as I haven't already committed to another shoot, I'll definitely be there -on time and ready to go.
